Trip on the cheap!
How do you get the most out of your Euro? The answer: Do as many internet searches as you possibly have time for. The result: 18 nights of lodging across our 9 cities for an average nightly cost of €48.39 (two people)!
Jessica always called me a maximizer. There are two types of people in the world, she says. Maximizers and satisfiers. Satisfiers are those who will take the first acceptable offer that comes by, while maximizers on the other hand will wait or search for the best possible offer/choice. If you have the time, it can't possibly hurt to hunt around a little for the best deal, eh?
We've come down to the following combination of hotels and hostels.

Eurail passes and packing
Got our Eurail passes. Wow that was quick! We ordered from Rail Europe website and received it within business days via UPS.
Jess and I decided to go with the Selectpass Youth with 10 days of unlimited travel across three neighboring countries. This choice was the most economical given our itinerary. For those who don't know, the youth passes are a great deal for anyone under the age of 26 travelling for an extended period of time across Europe.
Twelve days left until our departure! We've pretty much finalized all of the places we will be staying with the exception of Bordeaux (still working on that).
What else to do? Pack! Jess was great in putting together a packing list for the two of us. This is what we've come up with so far.
Clothes - shirts (4-5) - shorts and pants - underwear (5-7) - sweater/jacket - socks (5-7) - bathing suit/trunk - hat (?) Shoes Other Shared toiletries, etc. (Jessica will bring) Jessica’s personal care John’s personal care | Electronics, etc. (John will bring) - camera - flashlight - compass - alarm clock - cell phone - watch Misc Misc. (Jessica will bring) Documents, etc. |
We also found some guides online for how to pack.

Fanfare please...
Ta-da! Welcome to John & Jess's Eurotrip site. We hereby dedicate this site to keeping all of our fans out there up to date on the progress of our planning and also to show everyone glimpses of our experience in Europe once we're there.
Please check back frequently. Additions to look forward to in the near future include a more detailed itinerary, hostel/hotel reservation info, and our packing list.
Just two weeks left to go!
